Biography

Sara Sherr was born in Elkins Park, PA. She grew up in Worcester, Pennsylvania. In high school, Sara played lots of sports. She writes about this a lot. If you've read anything she's written, you'd know.

After high school, Sara went to Ursinus College and graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in English, with minors and creative writing and politics. She then moved to New York City to attend Adelphi University, where she earned a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry in 2015. 

In 2015 she started writing for a media company, then a production company. In 2016 she started teaching high school English at Uncommon Prep Charter in Brooklyn while earning a Master of Arts in Teaching at Relay Graduate School of Education in 2018. In 2021 Sara and her partner Esta moved to Maine with their dog Maico. Sara taught high school English at Baxter Academy in Portland Maine for two years, and is currently the Director of Special Education for Roxbury Prep in Boston.

Sara is very passionate about helping children discover their creative potential. It's also very important to her to be actively out and queer in schools, to support queer teens in seeing what's possible.

Sara has work published in Hobart Pulp, The Blue Bird Word, Carte Blanche, Apiary Magazine, decomP, Pa'Lante, 2Leaf Press, and others. 

She's working on a novel.
